“The captains are more than willing to share their knowledge because they are happy and contented with their career, they set the bar so that we know what to look forward to in our future.”
Zul graduated from cohort 15 of the TNTA programme and he is now a deck cadet working with Maersk Tankers Singapore Pte Ltd.
Reason for joining the maritime industry:
Having missed the opportunity to apply for the Special Limits Programme, Zul chanced upon TNTA at one NS career fair. Without any relatives or friends from the maritime industry and no prior knowledge of the industry, he was still able to adapt well to the programme with the help of his lecturers and classmates.
Influence of TNTA on his life:
Learning a lot from the TNTA lecturers, Zul has grown to become more responsible and confident with high respect for safety.
Zul aspires to be a Ship Captain one day.
Memorable times on board the ship:
Zul particularly enjoyed it during the Basic Operational and Ship Safety Training (BOSST) when all the cadets could get the full experience of firefighting and ship safety training.
Zul has learnt a lot through the captains’ experiences in class on real-life seafaring knowledge beyond textbooks. He cannot wait to experience them himself.
